SUMMARY 7TH DAY OF THE SUMMER DONOSTIA 16 JULY. NAVIA CONFIRMS ITS CANDIDACY FOR THE MARÍA CRISTINA, ON THE GREAT DAY OF JESÚS LÓPEZ AND CRISTINA PÉREZ

NAVIA confirmed that it likes Lasarte and that it will be favourite  to repeat in the María Cristina, on a day with three victories by Jesús López and doubles by Janacek, Arizkorreta and Rocío.

One was looking forward to seeing a two-year-old race with alternatives, with more or less serious gallops typical of the age... in short, a real horse racing. We had to wait until 15 July and the European Breeder's Fund prize, but it was worth it. WALKING TO GLORY won the 1,400m, finishing off the final and not running away as his generation mates have done in previous races.

PAPYRUS ROAD came out ready, with Borja Fayos in the saddle, to leave his seven rivals breathless. Frenetic pace and when it seemed that dominated everyone, including the favorite WARRIOR'S REVENGE, 300 meters from the finish appeared QUEEN OF GLORY and Cristina Perez, every day riding better and pushes like a veteran, to put everyone in agreement. The serious finish of Jesús López's horse promises. PAPYRUS and WARRIOR'S completed the trio.

The second part of the split was the next Saturday evening event. KUKO, after his rebirth, was the favourite, but he was hardly seen. Form, fit and riding were the decisive factors in determining the winner of the El Molino del Lobo prize.

Jaime Gelabert moved close to the lead in the first 1,500 metres of the course. He knew that TE KOOP's form was enough to beat the lot. As they did a fortnight ago, jockey and horse separated from the rest, leaving the rest with the only aspiration to fight for second place which went to SANBLASS, with DINKARATZ in third. Double of Jesús López.

The first part of the double was the third race of the day and after the first two, it would be logical to think of a new triumph of Jesús López who counted on LUANCO and GOYESCA, the only three year old of the lot. LEADER'S LEGACY was the favourite after his repeated signs of being in good form, as his last win a month ago in Lasarte showed.

MR SUNSHINE was in charge of setting the pace for the 2,000 metres of the course. GOYESCA travelled closer to close the group than to the lead, but halfway through the race, Cristina Pérez decided to advance on the outside, reaching third position. However, the final turn was a bit of a struggle for her, and she appeared in the final straight far behind the leader. LEADER'S LEGACY had already made her attack and with 300 metres to go she seemed to dominate, but Abdel's daughter had not yet said the last word.
